
Our 15U and 16U teams kicked off their summer seasons last weekend, eager to make a statement. Both teams progressed to the championship game, with the 16U team securing the championship trophy! Here are some highlights from the weekend...
CMB 16U wins the Drop 3rd Tournament at Carthage College!
After starting off pool play with a tie and a tough 1-run loss, the 16's battled back through bracket play with 3 wins on Sunday and earned the trophy with a dramatic extra inning win in the championship game. Keanan Davis took the ball in the final game and pitched a gem going 7 innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and a walk while striking out 7.
On offense, Connor Mitchell was locked in at the plate, driving in all three runs for CMB including the game winner in the top of the 8th inning.
Landon Gusk came in for the close and the big lefty need only four pitches to seal the victory for the squad's 1st trophy of the year.
CMB's pitching was superb all weekend striking out 45 batters in the 5 games played with a combined 2.07 era. On offense, Mitchell led the team going 6-14 with 3 runs and 5 RBI. The 16's will look to carry momentum into this weekend at the BYB Milwaukee Classic...
CMB 15U Select goes 4-1 over the weekend losing only in the championship game of the Drop 3rd Tournament.
In their first tournament as a team, the 15U squad showed resilience and resolve winning two 1-run games including a come from behind 2-out walk-off in the semifinals. Tyler Kohl was clutch all weekend at the plate delivering both the go-ahead run in the 6th inning of game #1 and the tying run in the 6th inning of the semi-finals. For the weekend Kohl went 5-12 with 2 runs and 5 RBI.
Brayden Gannon was the hero in the semifinals with a 2-out walk off RBI. For the weekend Gannon went 4-8 with a 2B and 3 RBI
CMB's defensive play was solid all weekend with standout performances by C Caden Henderson and SS Willem Sniadecki. Sniadecki committed 0 errors on 13 chances and turned two double plays. Henderson threw out eight runners behind the dish while catching all but one inning for the team.
The CMB 15U Select squad will be back in action on Friday in the BYB Milwaukee Classic and will look to take that next step in their development...
